Major Changes to Medical Certificates

Posted on July 2, 2025

As of June 23, 2025, Drivers are no longer required to submit their medical certificates to their state licensing agency. Instead, Medical Examiners will upload the results of a Driver’s DOT physical exam to the National Registry, and the National Registry will then transmit the results of the exam via the State Driver’s License Agencies “SDLA” connection. The results will be posted by the State to the driver’s Motor Vehicle Record “MVR” and the Commerical Driver’s License Information System “CDLIS”. As a Driver, it is crucial to check your MVR to ensure your DOT physical has been updated and you are properly certified. By not doing so, you are putting yourself at risk of getting a violation.
